The Blue Train is a luxury 5-star passenger train, South Africa.

The Solutions Team undertook a 4-year programme prior to the re-launch of the train. The responsibilities included:

  • Setting of Standards for the train for

  • Compiling standards and training manuals

Varsity College - 2002 - 2006

Varsity College is an internationally accredited tertiary training college offering Certificates and Diploma courses in Hotel Management studies.

Epacha Game Lodge - 2001

Epacha is a 5-star game lodge and hotel situated in Namibia.

  • Implementing operational procedures for the above departments

The Westcliff - 1999

The Westcliff is a 5-staff Orient Express hotel situated in Johannesburg.

Prior to the opening The Solutions Team was tasked with:

  • Setting standards in conjunction with the executive team for

    • Bars
    • Housekeeping

  • Compiling job descriptions for all the positions in the hotel
  • Recording the standards in user-friendly manuals
  • Train staff according to the set standards
  • Conduct relevant management training courses for an opening
  • On-the-job training during the opening period
  • Quality control of standards for a period of 6 months after the opening

Ceasars Gauteng - 2001 - 2003

Caesars is a 5-star casino and hotel complex situated in Johannesburg

Conducting generic and customised skills courses for the Food & Beverage Department. These included:

  • Waiters
  • Cocktail Waiters
  • Bartenders
  • Wine Stewards
  • Room Service
  • Setting and compiling standards for Housekeeping
  • Training of Housekeeping staff
  • Conducting on-the-job training during the opening period

After the opening the company was contracted to manage the training department for the entire complex. This included:

  • Establishing administrative functions for the department
  • Liaison with THETA in terms of WPSP and Implementation
  • Conducting Assessor training courses
  • Training needs analyses for the complex
  • Developing and conducting training programmes for Managers and Supervisors
  • Service Orientation Courses
  • Managing administering of the gaming training function
  • Implementing an accelerated training programme for PDI graduates
